EDIT: if you're going to be working with/for a 3d company, you'll probarbly want c4d, blender, maya or poser.

c4d is out, it\'s not used by many companies yet. Still new to the scene. You\'ll probably want Maya or 3D Studio MAX. While these are high priced, you can get student licenses... Maya comes free for students, but all renders are watermarked and I don\'t think you can export.

Most probably Maya, most of the larger companie's use that and the really good modelling courses (that also cost alot&#33;&#33;) are for Maya.. so I'd suggest learning that.
