How Big is too big?

Was looking around on the internet today and found a pre-release of "Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4.0 Community Technology Preview (CTP)". After looking over the size / system requirements I really start wondering how much software do you need to create software. In case the page poofs here's the data off of it. The download itself is in 11 files and takes up to 7286.0 MB.

System Requirements:
  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista; Windows XP
  • Minimum 75 GB available HDD space
  • The host computer must have a minimum of 2 GB RAM, with 1 GB allocated to the host operating system and 1 GB allocated to the VPC.
  • We recommend that the host computer CPU be at least a Core Duo 2 GHz processor.
  • Service Pack 1 of Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 is required to access the VPC.
A 7GB download and 75+ GB of HDD space just to write applications?... all that after the space to install your regular operating system and Microsoft Virtual PC.

Okay...so the only qualification my PC has is the HDD space. Either that software is capable of some pretty incredible stuff, or it's bloated with a lot of extra, maybe not-needed stuff.

Mac for life? No....then everything won't work for you and you have to wait for things to be developed for the mac which takes 10 ten years lol

vb is good for knocking around ideas and building prototypes quick and dirty, but when it comes down to serious programming it's all about the linked and assembled code, to hell with hi level compiled languages. the only remotely good project MS had going for coding imo was MASM and they abandoned that but some die-hards keep it going. Tasm is great. some of my best coding friends are textpad, debug.exe, tasm.exe + it's linker etc. I bet the 75gb isnt even for hard storage, they probably use it to temporarily increase the size of your page file so you can run the memory bloated .net vb prog when your done.
