Hi,
Found your site while searching for tutorials in PhotoShop.
I was raised by wolves until the age of 17.
Seriously, I'm always searching for features, tutorials and downloads in PhotoShop to help in the creation and enhancement of my Decal Graphics.
I airbrush and Customize HotWheels.

That's really amazing. Do you create the designs in photoshop and then airbrush them or just freestyle it?

The images are all Decals from my home printer.
The image of the Outlaws on horseback in the last pic is from several of the same image placed together.
Vampirella and Eat A Peach are pulled down from the net, enhanced and sized.
Background of House Of Kolor bed cover was done in PhotoShop.
Text is all mine with a little help from "The Font Thing" which allows you to look at any phrase or word as it appears written in every font in your computer.
PhotoShop has a similar feature but The Font Thing offers a full page of viewing instead of the column which comes up in PhotoShop.
I spent about a week of evenings downloading 1800 different fonts for a great source of good looking text.
Always download your fonts separately.
Choose which ones you really want as many are quite similar as to be almost unnoticeably different.
NEVER, NEVER choose the "Download 8000 fonts to your Computer" or any ridiculous offer like that.
Your computer would jam up and run slow.
Besides, like I said, pick and choose the ones you want.

It's hard to be specific about time involved for my Customs.
So much prep work goes into refining (sanding and filing imperfections from stripped castings) them as they are issued from the factory not to mention hours creating, enhancing and sizing Decal images to fit them.

I am absolutely amazed at your work. Splicing some of the cars into one unique creation is very interesting as well. I think I probably like the Chevelle the best, although the rig is sweet as well - then again, so is the car and trailer....

Did you create the Gathering dairy vans specifically for promoting that event or did you sell them there as souvenirs?

I created the 50 of the 18 Wheelers as a promotional Limited Edition for the Event.
I started doing my own Customs about 5 years ago and found I had a knack for making large numbers of identical Customs.
I still do some "one of a kinds" but I really enjoy promoting Events, Movies, Companies, Clubs, Conventions, Weddings, Banquets and such.

I made 850 1969 Tooned Camaros for a Convention in 2005,

Jim,
I didn't post to try and sell stuff.
I'm shooting for gaining any connections for help if I ever need it in PhotoShop.
But, as you can see, I do sell Customs.
My simplest stuff, which has 6 coats of paint, starts out around $21.

Yes Twister,
HotWheels makes a lot of goofy castings but I choose to do real cars, expecially cars from the '50s and '60s.
HW's are a buck off the shelf and for the most part you get a dollar's worth of product. I pick the better made and most realistic castings and swap their wheels with those from more expensive HW's or other Diecast manufacturers. Better wheels can be found on HW's costing $3 - $10. At Conventions and Toy Shows you can purchase the better stuff on sale for $1 to $3 and tear them apart for their wheels and other parts.

I started out with a cheap Paasche Airbrush and a couple of small files and now I've built an entire shop with paint booth and 3 Fact-O-Bake Ovens I invented to bake the paint.

lol @ the open 24 hours....

I think the reason Jim was asking was because he is probably having the same thought I am - we do an annual video game tournament called Digital Storm - and if the deals we're working on work out right, this year will be the biggest ever. However, I would imagine that you need more than 6 months' notice - and then there's that border shipping thing, because we're in Canada.

But what I *really* want to know is...how do you get the wheels back on the cars, because when my brother was little, he had hot wheels cars (and other diecast vehicles) with missing tires and he'd have a hissy when mom would toss them out because they were broken.
