Well then...make the time - even an hour at a park - just get out there and start shooting again! Your photo work is (was) too good to just fall by the wayside, Jim.

ive never done the photography thing so i figured id do just one just to say i did it:P and i thought id be different so i took it with my cellphone then edited it a bit in paint shop i put a before and after, it should be obvious which is which. one of them i also duped the layer, flipped it, blured the dup'd area and did a lil warp brush to make it look more pooled up i saved it as a png since it was an okay size... but the original psd or a bitmap looks better, but youll get the idea:P

wow...not bad for a cellphone pic, Rift. I like the 1st and 3rd ones the best, with the 3rd being my top choice overall. It would be interesting to see what you could do with a "real camera" - maybe you should buy one and join us on the darkside bwahahahaha.... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

thanks /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> the second was my original, i did the third to lower some of the activity on the photo, it was to planar for me to appreciate that much movement in it, if it was a towering waterfall that'd be dif lol, but i dunno im not a photographer=)

I've got a photography as a part of my course in a few months, so I guess i will be joining this "dark side."

Out of interest, is your camera digital or 'manual'?
Is it an SLR?

Welcome to the darkside, Marko /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

It's digital, and it's a hybrid - it's not really a point and shoot but it's not a full dSLR either. It's a Canon S3 IS if you want to look it up. Next one is going to be a Canon 30D. /bigwink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I've always been interested in photography so doing the course should be good. The only problem that I have with it is that we need to get an SLR camera, and since digital ones are $600+ I think its safe to say that I'll be getting a 'manual' one.

Nice camera btw, it seems to have everything you need.
The 30D, although a nice camera, isn't really necessary unless your a pro.

Very nice, Jer - now get out there and figure out how to use that new camera

I'm leaning towards a 30D - or a Nikon 80D - or maybe a Rebel, who knows :lmao:

I really like this one. I think there might be a bit too much sky. Really seems to draw attention away from the land, which IMO is the centre of the photo.

What's to ponder? It's Wayne after all....or has he already had is daily quota of smacks upside his head?

According to policy 143 section B subsection 56 if we excede his daily quota, record overages on form LSTHN567 and submit for aproval to be applied against his daily quota on his birthday.

That one looks familiar, hun... mind if I scoop a print of it for up here? Someone actually walked past the computer as it was loading and loved it.
Your pictures always manage to amaze me... mostly because I don't have the capacity to do much more than point-click-shoot.

That's when most of my hiking was always done... of course, it often involved beer, but that's beside the point.
Check-in isn't until 4 PM, and your boat docks at noon-ish or so... so you have a window of 4 hours for hiking. /blum.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Well, today I bought an old SLR camera(Ricoh Kr-5) which I'm going to use for my uni class. So hopefully I can take some images that are worthy of being posted. I say this because I have never played with Shutter/Aperture speeds etc, and I don't know the first thing about photography, so.. first few pics are probably going to be pretty dodgy.

Still, should be fun.

It is definitely a good camera to start learning on. I had a Ricoh many, many years ago that once belonged to my Grandfather. Unfortunately it gave up the ghost and couldn't be repaired because it was so old /cry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Nice pics, I really like the one by the lake/river. Very cool reflections.

Maybe you can add your name in the bottom right corner or so and not almost in the middle like in the last pic ? /blum.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Nah, this way I get to annoy more people. /happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' /> I may fix it later.

Thanks /good.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='(Y)' />, that picture actually came out really well(Night shot with reflections on water), its a shame my scanner doesn't do it justice, but its actually a lot better than that on photo paper.

I should hopefully have some really cool shots coming up, that is... if I took them properly. /huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Well done, Marko. You have a good eye for capturing light and shadow in a dramatic way, and the reflections shot is very good, even though it has a bit of blur in it. Do you use a tripod? That will help keep your night shots clear. If your new shots are this good, then I'm sure your upcoming ones will be just as good if not better. /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

No, I currently don't have a tripod, its something I'm looking out for. That shot was taken on a bench, which was fairly steady, but I guess not steady enough. I should really invest in a tripod, because I love taking long exposure shots.
