Well, today I bought an old SLR camera(Ricoh Kr-5) which I'm going to use for my uni class. So hopefully I can take some images that are worthy of being posted. I say this because I have never played with Shutter/Aperture speeds etc, and I don't know the first thing about photography, so.. first few pics are probably going to be pretty dodgy.

Still, should be fun.

It is definitely a good camera to start learning on. I had a Ricoh many, many years ago that once belonged to my Grandfather. Well done, Marko. You have a good eye for capturing light and shadow in a dramatic way, and the reflections shot is very good, even though it has a bit of blur in it. Do you use a tripod? That will help keep your night shots clear. No, I currently don't have a tripod, its something I'm looking out for. That shot was taken on a bench, which was fairly steady, but I guess not steady enough. I should really invest in a tripod, because I love taking long exposure shots.

You are getting really good detail in your shots, Marko. I think you and your camera are definitely playing well together. Once you start using a tripod for your long-exposure shots, use the timer to shoot if you can, that way when the camera shutter opens, there is no risk of any wiggle from you pushing the button. The night shot you posted in this last lot is very good. You chose a good angle to shoot the wall sculpture from, as the shadow adds more texture and depth to your photo. If i end up getting a tripod, I would probably go for the cable release, also let's me push the button without wiggle.

Cable release is a good plan as well, I wasn't sure if your camera had the capability for it. Anything to keep all movement out of the shot. Get a good tripod too, don't get one of those flimsy ones. Mine's made by Samsonite. While it's nowhere near the quality of a Manfrotto, it's sturdy and that's the important part.

Thank you - and yeah, I hate fences too - although if you can get close enough to the chainlink type fences you can shoot between the links. I've been known to do that on several occassions lol

ROFL Tami, that's how I got my picture of the White House when they were doing some construction in the west side of the yard. Not sure what, but they were doing something lol...
