Post by Tami »

New section in popular MMO magazine to focus on education and career choices for aspiring game designers

DALLAS, TX (Nov 17, 2009) – Beckett Media LLC is proud to announce the addition of a new section in its #1 MMORPG magazine, Beckett Massive Online Gamer. The “Career Quest Guide” will be a recurring section, starting with the Jan/Feb 2010 issue (on newsstands now), that offers tips and advice for would-be game designers seeking to break into the challenging video-game industry.

The first edition of the Career Quest Guide doles out tips for choosing a college for a gaming education. Topics for future articles include how to contact and get noticed by a game company, advice on classes to take, feature articles on specific schools, and personal stories from employees of various game companies and how they landed their positions. The Career Quest Guide will draw on the experiences and expertise of the faculty and staff of the top game-education universities throughout North America, as well as from employees of major game companies, all with the goal of presenting the most concise and valuable advice for students and job-seekers.

“We’re delighted to add this exciting new section to Massive Online Gamer,” said Editorial Director Doug Kale. “Game companies are always in need of new bodies, and hundreds of schools offer some kind of gaming education program to help meet that demand. The Career Quest Guide will help gamers realize their dreams and create the next gaming masterpiece!”

In addition to the usual Massive Online Gamer readership of 150,000, Beckett plans to make the Career Quest Guide available to over 50,000 high school guidance counselors throughout North America. Massive Online Gamer can be found in over 50,000 retail locations, including Target, Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, Borders, Blockbuster, Toys ‘R’ Us, specialty comics and gaming shops, major grocery chains, and other mass-market, specialty, and hobby retailers.
