I've been thinking long and hard on this for... well, actually, for a few years now. Our current IRC Services is auspices, which sadly (while being very dependable in some of its controls) is no longer receiving any development whatsoever (the project is dead). I've been wanting to move over to Anope for some time now, due to it's regular updates, patches, and it's extendable module support, but there is a catch... and it's a fairly large catch that has been keeping me from going forward on this.
Ready for it? Okay, here we go.
The databases are not transferable.
What's this mean? It means that none of the currently registered channels, none of our botserv bots, and most importantly none of our nicknames will transfer over. We'll have to build all of this stuff again.
If I am unable to locate a proper importer, what is the general thoughts on having to re-register your nicknames and/or rooms? Please feel free to leave comments, or just vote. In a day or three, I'll look over the results and decide where we go from here.
Thanks.

hmmmmm...well, I don't mind if it's for the betterment of the server, and I believe I may have a few perks in regards to channel and name registration - right? <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

well, just people who regularly come to the server shouldnt mind re-registering... and if they dont come often, they should just re-register... i personally dont mind.

The only real problem I see is losing all the registered channels and the bots. It will probably be more work for you to get a lot of the bots created and channels registered unless I can do all that too and I could help lol

I already have the botlist saved, and it won't take more than 10 or 15 minutes to get a list of rooms with founder passes and owners... The time-consuming part is setting the owners to match the newly registered nicks.
I think that, unless someone objects, I might do this tonight
