[Vexel] Ford Falcon

Post by Marko »

As the Topic Description says, it is yet another vexel. Created this one for a 'forum competition' as my brother asked me to. I didn't win, but I'd say that was because the 'other guy' <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... #>/dry.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'<_<\' /> had a better idea <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />.
Anyway, I am happy with the way this turned out, especially because the reference image was low quality. The thing that I'm not totally happy about are the wheels, the reference image for that was of even worse quality, but my brother wanted those rims on that car, and finding other pictures of those rims was proving to be hard, so I used the low quality image and did my best.

Heh, some-what of a long post, but enjoy the pic anyway <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... histle.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(whistle)\' />

Quick Edit:
Was looking for this picture. My Previous work of the Ford Falcon.

Looks pretty good... you know, for a Ford.
Care to elaborate on the "better idea" that beat you out in the contest?

Well, there was a stock photo of a ford that had to be used. This was at the time when the Transformers movie was popular and just came out, so the guy did an average job of making it look like a transformer. You know, cut the front part, paste it over an existing robot image, but it was a good idea, so kudos to him.

very nicely done, ford isn't so bad >.>
Love is all a matter of timing.

It's no good meeting the right person too soon or too late.

If I'd live in another time or place...

...my story might have had a very different ending.

Yeah, you know... when compared to walking.
Unless you have to push. Then it's better to just walk.

It amazes me at how much you have improved with this style of artwork, Marko - I agree with you about the tires and rims, but they aren't really that bad - it is a Ford afterall <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... igwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

All kidding aside, you did a fantastic job, although I do find a few of the outline lines to be a bit on the thick side - is that for depth/shadow effect?

Thanks Tami. I appreciate it.
I'm not exactly sure which lines you mean? The right headlight, and the thing just below the bonnet? If so, yes, they are actual 'dark spots' on the original picture and are for depth and shadow, although looking back at it, I possibly should have softened the edges a bit.

You're welcome, and yes, those are the lines I'm talking about. They just seem to be a little out of place - they look like they are sitting on the image instead of being a part of it.
