Not a bad picture for someone who was going through the "Mikey Experience".
Marko, your shots are coming along real well... can't wait to see what you can do once you get some practice in on your new toy. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... igwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

The "Mikey Experience" was made alot easier by the amount of uhm...courage...that was appearing - however I am sure that future experiences will probably be full of more <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> moments...especially if Darcy/Rob/various other insane firefighters are involved; of course I could just avoid the island until sometime after next Spring-ish. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... igwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

I liked showing you off though...

=\ not sure I really like this one. The pastel colors with the gradient in the sky is a nice touch but think there's just too much of it. My eyes are drawn first to the white space at the top then to the boat at the bottom but there seems to be no real connection between the two, more of a jump.
I think that all makes sense, if not I'll learn to not post at 3:30 am <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

Love is all a matter of timing.
It's no good meeting the right person too soon or too late.
If I'd live in another time or place...
...my story might have had a very different ending.

Jim...try that post again during daylight hours <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... >/blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' /> I understand what you mean, sort of - but the sky's a gradient, so how could it not flow? Granted Saturna Island in the background kind of breaks it up a bit...but I like it <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... igwink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />
Wayne....that would be a negatory on your last comment <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... histle.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(whistle)\' />

the sky does flow, it just takes up too much of the picture. and with the white boat being below the islands, my eyes tend to jump from it to the very white sky at the top. Possibly because the bright white at the top of the sky is such a contrast to the bottom of the picture.

Here's some more that I took today.
They're not all that good, except for the shot glass one, which I like <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... #>/yes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(nod)\' />
Anyway, today I was just playing with water and trying to capture it mid air in freeze frame. A lot harder than it sounds and many of the photos turned out blurry because its extremely hard to manually focus on it.
Ah well, lessons learned, plus it was fun. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... #>/yes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(nod)\' />

water is lots of fun to take pictures of, and can sometimes (A) be messy. Very nice photos marko, you always have the most interesting horizon line.

Oops...sorry Marko, I got busy doing other things and forgot to reply here. I think I like the third shot the best, simply for the angle you chose to shoot it at and the resulting line textures. Something else you may want to consider is shooting textures for patterns and texture files for graphics programmes - your brick texture in the second shot is very good (even though the focus of the shot was the water). <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Tell me about it. My brother had this 'bright' idea of throwing water from behind, sounds like a good shot....but.... he threw the water and not only did it miss the place that I had the camera pointing to, but it also splashed my head big time. Problem was it was coloured water... I had it coloured yellow. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... lleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />water is lots of fun to take pictures of, and can sometimes (A) be messy. Still, was fun.
I had though of using some of the images for textures, I just have to get around to it one day. <img src=\'http://www.killanet.net/forum3/public/s ... /ph34r.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />Oops...sorry Marko, I got busy doing other things and forgot to reply here. one thing you can do to help focus on the right spot if you're going to be dripping water is to set an object in it's place. Once the camera is focused on that object, you can turn off auto-focus (if you're using it) move the object and then drip the water. This way even if it's not perfectly focused it will be very close.

Manual focus all the way. The only thing that's battery operated in this camera is the light sensor.
I tried that anyway, setting an object in focus, then moving it away, it's just hard hitting the right spot with the water.

I think with different light this picture would be really nice. As it stands the light is kinda pale and blah...
