From PC Gamer, confirmed by D. J. Stapleton, the magazine's game reviewer

"It's true - there will be a unique code printed in every copy of the [b]US version[/b] of PC Gamer, both on subscribers' issues and on newsstand that will unlock a pet you can only get from us. Spread the word!"

...we get the US version in Canada bwahahaha.....

The issue hit the news stands yesterday here in the USA, i got my copies
Little fyi, you have to do a quest in order to get the pet

question; where do you go to get this quest?

It's in one of the main towns in Nightfall, it might be Champion's Dawn (or the one with "Jewel" in the name), can't remember - you have to talk to a certain NPC to get the quest. I didn't do the quest because I want to do it when NightFall comes out.

That might be it, and I think the NPC's name started with C but I wasn't really paying attention to the local chat that much.
