PhotoShop Plugins [Freeware]
Mehdi, Free Plugins for PhotoShop (as well as for Paint Shop Pro, Corel PHOTO-PAINT, Macromedia Fireworks and others photo retouching softwares.)
Newest Release:
Fine Threshold : Unlike the traditional threshold command of Photoshop, the plugin Fine Threshold allows to get quickly, anti-aliased and sharp shapes.
Absolute Colour : Absolute Color is based on a hue wheel subdivised into 6 sectors of 60 degrees. Choose a sector to restrict the tints of the image
Blots 2 : This plugin generates blots, to obtain nice textures. Note that these textures are seamless .
Colour MegaMix : Color MegaMix modifies the colors of any image. It is based on two rows of colors: 8 source colors and 8 target colors. According to these data, the plugin reconstructs completely the color space.
Contrast Balance : Imagine, the traditional filter luminosity/contrast, decomposed into four balances constant/contrast, resting on the following four oppositions: white-black, red-cyan, green-magenta, blue-yellow. You obtain a powerful tool, allowing to adjust colours and contrast. Whether it is to obtain artistic effects, or to retouch an image, you will adopt very quickly this plugin !
Curves : The plugin Curves proposes eight predetermined, interesting curves. Interface shows several miniatures of curves; select one and observe impact on the image.
Edges Fix : This plugin take advantage of an edge detection algorithm (precise) to obtain various artistic effects.
Equalizer : This plugin offers three methods of equalization, with several options to make this process as much as possible exploitable. In fact, what is equalization? Roughly speaking, equalization is a process that generate for each image the "optimal" curve which once applied to that image would improve contrast, in a relevant way. To reach that result, the process exploits intensively the histogram of frequencies.
Eraser Classic : Eraser classic allows to erase easily a given colour. A typical use: activate the eyedropper, select the colour directly in the preview window, and adjust tolerance .
Eraser Genuine : Eraser Genuine modifies image transparency according to two criteria: a colour you wish to erase and a colour you wish to protect. So, this plugin is particulary suitable for images where two colours oppose clearly.
Select with the eyedropper the colours you wish from the current application (background colour to erase, foreground colour to protect). Launch the plugin and the greatest part of the work is done!
Fur : This plugin allow to realize "fur" textures. You can modify the density and the length of hairs.
Gradient Smithy : Gradient Smithy allows, among others, to realize what photoshop calls gradient map effect. Clearly, the plugin uses any gradient to associate to every level of luminosity a colour. Furthermore, Gradient Smithy allows to create first complex gradients, quite easily.
Grain Natural 2: Grain Natural 2 allows to generate grains of variable size. This plugin exploits colours already present in the image to achieve a "natural" result. NB : Grain natural is suitable particularly for images with strong contrast.
HSL Plus: #
HSL Plus is similar to the traditional hue/saturation/luminosity balance, but with some "Plus":
# A better colour integrity, especially for the luminosity.
# A better control of the luminosity, notably the possibility of modifying contrast.
# The possibility of making an automatic contrast (due to the Auto button) then of re-adjusting.
# Three Out of Gamut Clipping methods
Julia World: Julia 's curves are a family of mathematical curves (fractals) renowned for their beauties. This plugin is extremely simple : to track down an interesting curve, use the Julia control or press the Random button (that's all !). Besides, it allows endless zooming, to customize colours, and to save settings.
Kaleidoscope 2.1: Kaleidoscope 2.1 is a plugin which proceeds to multiple symmetries to obtain beautiful patterns.
* Since the version 2, this plugin proposes three spinning effects:
* Mirror: traditional effect. Consecutive sectors are symmetric.
* Copy: takes a sector and repeat it. Transition between consecutive sectors are antialiased.
* Blend: turn the complete image, several times; and realize a blend.
Version 2.1 corrects some aliasing effects due to "undersampling". In other words, you should get a higher quality for your picture when you "Zoom Out" a lot.
Local Equalization: This plugin proceeds in every pixel to a local equalization of the luminosity, with a matrix of 17x17 pixels. From an artistic point of view, local equalization can be interesting if you wish to stress the aspect of a given texture. But this process can be also used to analyze an image where certain details are barely perceptible.
Melt 1.1: This plugin allows to deform image, by waves. Size, intensity, and aspect ratio of waves are customizable.
Version 1.1 corrects some aliasing effects due to "undersampling". In other words, you can observe an improvement when parameter "Size" is small or when parameter "Amount" is important.
Projection: The plugin Projection provides a collection of interactive perspective effects: ability to tile image in infinite space (copy or mirror mode), or to repeat edges ...
Bonus: the unusual "Bilinear Distortion".
Posterizer: Posterizer is a plugin which offers the possibility to posterize the luminosity and the hue.
Quick Mirror: Photoshop provides all the necessary tools to proceed to a symmetry. However it can turn out boring. With Quick Mirror, it will take you 2 seconds!
Seamless Border: This plugin allows to make any image seamless. (No discontinuities when image is repeated several times). New in the version 1.1: Added two very handy features, "Direction" and "Offset XY 50 %".
Sorting Tiles: Sorting Tiles imitates vaguely painting. Fundamentally, the filter cuts image in several blocks, makes a sorting of colours, and redistributes these ones following more or less complicated patterns.
Vibrations: This plugin proposes two different methods ("Levels" and "Lines") to create kind of streaks. Two processes tend naturally to provoke the appearance of noise, as soon as frequency of streaks is important. That's why we introduced an internal blur (realized with floating values !) in order to ensure a perfect smoothing.
* New in the version 1.1:
* Added the gaussian blur .
* The number of color pickers is 4 (before 3).
Wavy Lab: Wavy Lab offers numerous possibilities, distributed according to the Style and the Mode .
Weaver: Weaver is an effect which imitates weave.
Mehdi Plugins Home

PhotoShop Plugins [Freeware]
Bleach ByPass
Description:
BleachBypass is a Photoshop-compatible plug-in designed to digitally simulate the traditional film "bleach bypass" technique.
The bleach bypass, or "bleach skip" technique involves the partial or complete skipping of the bleaching stage during the processing of a colour film. This prevents the silver from being removed from the negative, and the result is a contrasty image with muted colours. The technique is often used extensively in motion pictures, such as "Saving Private Ryan" and "Three Kings".
It also gives a very pleasing, "film-like" quality to images, much like older, fast print film was used.

Description:
HotPixel is an Adobe Photoshop© compatible filter/plugin designed to remove "hot pixel" noise from digital images.
"Hot pixel" noise often occurs when taking a photograph with a consumer digital camera using a long exposure in low light situations. It appears as coloured dots of around one pixel in size.
This plug-in automatically detects and removals of these hot pixels without degrading fine image detail. It works on all but the most noisy of images.

PhotoShop Plugins [Freeware]
Plugins for Photographers by Photo-Plugins:
*Note these are free plug-ins but there is also a donation button on the site if you use and like the plug-ins /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
BW Conversion: Yet another B/W conversion plugin? Yes, but one with powerfull features that allow full control over the final result:
* Total control over the tonal response of Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue and Magenta, and the intermediate hues. The user can boost each color's tonal response all the way up to white or limit it down to black, without affecting the other colors at all .
* The plugin offers presets that accurately simulate the tonal response of the most popular b/w films.
* The plugin can introduce a grain effect of controllable intensity and density.
* An option to simulate the effect of color lens filters, with selectable hue and saturation is also available.
* The user can also aplly a toning effect of selectable color and intensity.
* A brightness meter is displayed when the cursor is over the preview window
* All settings can be saved in a parameter file to be available for future use.
Selective Saturation: Quite often some parts of a photo require a saturation adjustment while others do not. If we increase the saturation globally, the most saturated parts get oversaturated and if we decrease it, the less saturated parts get undersaturated.
We need a Saturation Mask based on the individual pixel saturation in order to adjust it just where it is needed. Unfortunately even Photoshop does not provide a fast and straightforward way to create a saturation mask, like it does for brightness masks.
So this plugn, Selective Saturation, lets the user define a Saturation Zone by setting it's center and range with two sliders.
A mask preview mode is available to fine tune the settings.
Then every saturation adjustment affects only those parts of the photo with saturation value that lies in the specified saturation zone.
The "Smooth Adjustment" checkbox, when checked, gives a smoother adhustment by applying the full adjustment at the center of the saturation zone, while fading it to zero towards the zone ends.
Local Contrast Enhancement: This plugin's main purpose is to bring out detail.
This is accomplished by increasing the contrast between a pixel's value and the mean value of the adjacent pixels in a local area of the photo.
You can control the amount of the increase of contrast, the size of the local area and the amount of blending with the original photo.
High Pass Sharpening: This is a plugin to sharpen photos with the classic high pass method. The user can adjust the high pass filter radius, and control the blending with the original image. A high pass output preview is also available to help the user adjust the filter radius up to the point the edges to be sharpened show up.
High pass sharpening is generally considered to produce less halos and other sharpening artifacts than USM.
Soft Focus: This plugins applies a soft focus effect, which is often usefull in portraits or fashion photography. There are controls to adjust the focus softness, the overall strength of the effect and the blending mode of the overlayed blured image.
Lens Correction: This plugin corrects barrel and pincushion distortions that many zoom camera lenses.produce.
Just move the sliders to the left to correct barrel distortion, and to the right to correct pincushion .
Contrast Mask 2: This plugin uses a contrast mask to reduce the overall contrast of the image, simultaneously bringing out more detail in both highlights and shadows.
A b/w negative of the image is blured (with a radius controlled by the "Smoothing" slider) to avoid hard edges and then overlayed with the original, darkening the highlights and lightening the shadows.
The opacity of the overlay is controlled by the "Strength" slider.
Gradient Blur: This plugin apllies a gradient blur that can help us draw the viewes attention to the photograph's main subject.
There are sliders to control the position where the blur starts and it's strength.
A preview mask can be displayed, and there is a selection between horizontal, verical and radial blurs.

Photo Freebies Plugin Filters by Photo Wiz
PhotoFreebies is a collection of free plugins for performing useful photo manipulations and effects e.g. sepia effects, saturation gradients, b/w conversion, color space transformations and many more. Most of them can be used on 8bit and 16bit RGB images. Some of them have a dialog with adjustable controls whereas others are applied instantly without displaying a dialog. Windows Only.
Motivation
To celebrate the success of our PhotoWiz product series we decided to publish the free PhotoFreebies. Our intention was to create small and easy-to-use utilities for image manipulation. They are not as feature-rich as our other PhotoWiz products, which were engineered for special photo correction tasks. The PhotoFreebies produce more general effects that are needed from time to time and are only inconveniently reproducible in common graphics tools. The PhotoFreebies also include effects which are less suitable for commercial products, but nevertheless useful. Additionally you will also find some features of our other PhotoWiz products in a more simplified form in the PhotoFreebies collection. The PhotoFreebies collection will of course be expanded with even more useful plugins in future.
Plugins Descriptions
B/W: Turns the image into grayscale, but with a better method than the one available in Photoshop or PSP. Works like the B/W button in ColorWasher and FocalBlade. No Dialog.
Desaturation Gradient: Gradually desaturates the image in four possible directions.
Histo Fix: Like in ColorWasher it fixes a chopped histogram by interpolating lost image information. There is an option to regain 1/2 bit, 1 bit or 2 bit of image information. Works only on 8bit images.
Remove Transparency: Makes a transparent layer fully opaque. No Dialog.
Sepia: Lets you apply uniform or colored sepia effects. Includes 5 effect types, a color slider and a ContrastFix check box. A sepia effect of this quality isn't that easy to achieve in Photoshop or PSP.
RGB2HSL and HSL2RGB: Converts the RGB channels into HSL channels without leaving RGB mode. That allows you to manipulate the HSL channels. The second plugin converts the HSL channels back to RGB. No Dialog.
RGB2YCC and YCC2RGB: Converts the RGB channels into YCC channels without leaving RGB mode. That allows you to manipulate the YCC channels. The second plugin converts the YCC channels back to RGB. No Dialog.
Luma Negative: Turns the image into a negative without changing the colors. Has a dialog with a slider.
Version 1.0 (File Date: November 30, 2003)
* First Release

PhotoShop Plugins [Freeware]
xero-graphics free PS and PSP plugins:
We have a selection of Photoshop-compatible plugins available for download. These are all freeware, and were built using Filtermeister, with Paint Shop Pro 8.10 as the host program - they should work without problems with any Windows graphics program that supports the Adobe Photoshop plugin architecture. Please read the notes included in the download files for terms and conditions of use.
Abstractor
The filter has just four sliders:
Abstraction Controls the way in which the colours are smoothed and spread.
Simplification The image is reduced to simplified regions of colour derived from the original; this slider controls the number of colours used.
Colouration Controls the overall colouration of the image, from a near-monochrome at the lower extreme to an exaggeratedly bright at the higher settings.
Outlining After simplifying the image, the filter applies a dark outline derived from the original image; this slider controls the strength of the outline.
Alien Mist
The filter gives a sort of coloured mist over the darker areas of the image and works best on images that are brightly-coloured and have plenty of contrast.
ArtGrain
The creative use of 'grain' is one of the oldest tricks in photography, and is just as appealing in the digital age. Grain doesn't work well on all subjects, but on the right image it can produce a very artistic look indeed.
ArtifaxA kind of 'pseudo-artistic' effectArtWorx
This filter gives 'painterly' effects, and has a wide range of possibilities from 'extremely subtle' to 'really very extremely unsubtle'. At the subtle end of the scale is a sort of soft, scratchy finish; at the other extreme we have messy blobs with (should you so wish) distorted colouration.
Bad Dream
This filter is great if you like really icky, yucky colourations. It gives the kind of revolting colour-casts that you would normally spend hours trying to correct; it also gives a soft, misty effect though, and the final result can be quite pleasing on the right kind of image.
Caravaggio This one is a simple 'oil-painting' effectClarity
This filter does a simple but useful job - it clarifies an image, improving colour and perceived sharpness. It is similar to PSP's built-in 'Clarify' filter, but doesn't reduce saturation as much as that version seems to do
Cubism
A filter for Cubist effects, a la Monet
DuoChrome
The idea was to produce something similar to 'Ultraviolet', but with more control over the colouration. This version actually uses a completely different algorithm from 'Ultraviolet', and so the results are significantly different - generally, the colouration is stronger.
Emphasis This is quite a complicated filter to get to grips with, but it's worth the effort - it can give some very useful effects. The filter allows you to select up to eight colours, then either emphasise or de-emphasise them in the image. Colours that are de-emphasised are converted toward grey, on a sliding scale that depends upon how close they are to one of the colurs that you've selected. That may sound obscure, but a little experimentation should make everything clear.Fritillary
Granularity This sets the size of the pixellated blocks. The smaller the size, the finer the pattern, and the more detail will be preserved.
Aggression Controls the single-mindedness with which pixellation is applied. At low settings, the original image detail is preserved reasonably well, while at high settings the image is pixellated indiscriminately.
Tesselation If this slider is set to any value above zero, then the edges of each block will be highlighted to give a 'mosaic' look; the higher the tesselation slider is set, the move pronounced the tiles. However, this effect is also controlled by the aggression slider, so if you set the value above a certain level the highlighting effect will mostly disappear unless you increase aggression.
Variation This controls the amount by which each tile's brightness is randomly adjusted. When the slider is set at zero, each tile retains it's original brightness; higher values cause the brightness to be changed by correspondingly larger amounts.
Fuzzifier
Diffusion effects are a long-standing weapon in the photographer's armoury, so it's no surprise to find them available in image processing packages too. While I like these effects myself, most of the ones currently available take a sort of sledgehammer approach, splattering the image around indiscriminately so that all detail is lost. I've long craved a filter that could produce diffusion, but preserve details, and this is my attempt to write one.
Greyscaler
One of the very few things that PSP cannot do directly is convert a single layer to greyscale without affecting the other layers as well. The only option available is (from the menus) Colors->Greyscale, and this converts the whole image - in other words, all layers. The xero : greyscale filter addresses this shortcoming, and adds some useful extras as well.
Grey Tinter The xero : greytinter filter can give some very tasteful 'artistic' effects. The filter reduces the image to greyscale, but allows the original colour to be added back in to give subtle tints. The end result can look quite impressiveIllustrator
Another 'arty' filter, hence the name - the result reminded me of a coloured-ink illustration. The algorithm used is not dissimilar to that in the 'Porcelain' filter, so if you like that one you'll probably like this one too!
Improver
This filter is similar in some respects to the 'Supersmooth' filter from set two; however, this one will usually perform better if you're trying to clean up a noisy image. It also allows a little controllable sharpening, and does a reasonable job of cleaning up JPG artifacts on over-compressed images.
Iridium
Well, sooner or later I had to try my hand at metal effects. There are two in this filter set - 'Titanium', and this one. Iridium, apparently, is a metal that forms colourful, iridescent compounds (hence the name); I've never actually seen any iridium, of course, but that didn't stop me naming a filter after it.
The filter works by applying a sinusoidal variation to each of the red, green, and blue channels, and it allows separate control of the frequency and intensity of the effect for each channel. (If that doesn't make sense, don't worry; just keep clicking the random button until you get something pretty!). With some images, the result can be a little messy, so the filter has some built-in smoothing, which usually improves things.
Lineart
This filter can produce quite a wide range of 'painterly' and 'artistic' effects
Lithograph
The filter has just two sliders, named as 'Vibrancy' and 'Colouration', but the names could easily be reversed! The two work together to control the overall effect, so it's worth experimenting with various combinations to find a pleasing result for any given image.
Make A Flake
Make snowflake designs
Mistifier
The xero : mistifier recreates the hazy, soft-focus effect beloved of traditional SLR photographers. This is ideal for portraits, but can also be used to great effect on landscapes, giving a sort of dreamy quality.
Moodlight
This is quite a complicated filter to explain; in fact, it's probably easier to use than it is to explain! Ever looked at a photograph and wished that you could re-shoot it, but change the lighting to add a warmer colour to the shadows, or a cooler one to the highlights? Or maybe you'd just like to add some really vibrant coloured lighting to spice things up a little. Well, now you can - or at least, you can change the lighting effects on an image without having to re-shoot it.
Imagine that you have three off-camera lights; each light can be switched on or off, and its colour can be anything you want it to be. Each light can be targeted to affect only those parts of the image that are within a specified brightness range. So, for example, you could add a blue colouration to the shadow areas, and maybe a yellowish colouration to the highlights. You can even add a third colouration to the mid-tones if you want to. However, there's no rule that restricts the lights to shadows, mid-tones and highlights; you can target all three lights to the shadow areas, or the highlights, or anything in between.
MoonLight
A moonlight effect filter
Nostalgia This plugin gives a result that reminds me of a hand-tinted monochrome photograph or, perhaps, the kind of cheaply-produced and gaudily-coloured magazine covers that I used to see as a child; it was that "childhood" connection that led me to call the plugin "Nostalgia", of course.The plugin selectively desaturates the image, but also gives a subtle change in hues. The end result is that some parts of the image become monochrome, while others take on a sort of unrealistic-looking colouration.Pastellize
Change a picture to pretty pastel colours
Porcelain
The xero : porcelain filter gives an effect that is hard to describe, but which reminds me of painted porcelain.
Radiance
this filter has wound up with four sliders called Strangeness, Charm, Truth and Beauty. I'm not even going to try to describe in detail what they do; suffice to say, their effects are mostly rather subtle, so just play around until you find something that looks good!
Seasons
The xero : seasons filter allows you to make subtle (or dramatic) changes to selected colours in the image.
Serious Fog
Make your pictures look...foggy
Simplicity
What I really wanted from this filter was a sort of 'Japanese-woodcut' look. Well, I tried hard and I'm sure you'll agree that the end result looks absolutely nothing like a Japanese-woodcut. Never mind, you can't win 'em all. I still rather like the effect, even if it didn't quite work out the way I intended.
SkyCleaner
xero : skycleaner helps tackle one of the most common problems in photography - bleached-out skies caused by over-exposure.
Soft Mood
This filter can do nice things with portraits, but it can also be quite effective on landscapes and other images. As always, the final result depends on the starting point - for some images the result is great, for others it's awful.
Soft Vignette
Vignette effects, where the edges of the image shade off gradually, always seem popular. I don't often use this kind of thing myself, but I thought it was time the xero collection included a vignette effect of some kind, and this is it.
Sparkles
I first released this one just before Christmas 2003. It has lots of quirks and limitations, but can be quite useful nevertheless. If you want a serious, industrial-strength starmaker that can cope with high-resolution images, take a look at Quasar! If you're happy with small stars on web-resolution images, then give this one a try.
Super Smooth
This is very effective at cleaning up noisy images, and gives quite a nice artistic effect at higher settings.
Tekstya
Generate fine-grained textured tiles for web-page backgrounds.
Titanium
Titanium is another 'metal' effect, but it's less colourful and less extreme than the Iridium filter.
Tweaker
PaintShop Pro, like most graphics hosts, has several methods for altering the brightness and contrast of an image. Some of them are simple but clumsy, some of them are powerful but complex. I felt the need for something in between - something that would allow me, for example, to lighten and darken the highlight and shadow areas independently, but without the irritation of theshold and cutoff points that can introduce obviously artificial areas. Well, here it is.
Ultraviolet
This filter turns the image to a grayscale tinted with pink and blue and various shades of lilac between.
We have a selection of Photoshop-compatible plugins available for download. These are all freeware, and were built using Filtermeister, with Paint Shop Pro 8.10 as the host program - they should work without problems with any Windows graphics program that supports the Adobe Photoshop plugin architecture.

PhotoShop Plugins [Freeware]
From Cybia:
The "Works" Plug-In Filters: Originally created quite a few years ago, these filter packs have been updated several times and converted into a number of different versions (Photoshop, Premiere, etc). They provide the user with a base of very simple effects that can be handy to use on a regular basis.
You will probably have already come across these many times over the years, on various websites and magazine cover CDRom's. It has always surprised me that people still seem to like them, so I keep them here for download as long as they are wanted! All packs are FREEWARE so give them a go.
Here is a basic overview of the plug-ins in this series ...
* AlphaWorks: 6 filters with various transparency properties
* ColourWorks : 20 filters for modifying the colours in your images

* Mezzy : 15 filters for producing mezzo and grain effects
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fotomatic Plug-In Filters : A series of effects based on traditional photography equipment and techniques. They are not meant to be complex or exact matches, merely a quick and easy method to achieve results that are similar to what can be produced via conventional non-digital formats.
Ideal for the beginner or for those photographers who are just moving over to digital-editing and wish to use effects that seem more familiar, rather than the more "technical" software they may sometimes encounter.
Experienced users may wonder why anyone would need to use such simple effects, but the answer is simple ... speed! While it is possible to create the same effects manually using virtually any image-editor these days, the plug-ins offer you a way to speed-up the process by incorporating the necessary features in one simple dialog, saving the need to run through a series of different functions to end up with the same result.
These filters are currently work-in-progess and I will be releasing each one individually as soon as they are ready. Please note that some of them are to be used as "exclusive" content for various magazine CDRom cover disks and as such they will not appear on this site until some time afterwards.
Here is a basic overview of what plug-ins you can expect to see in this series ...
* Optical Filters : Similar to the variety you place over your camera lens
* Film FX : Replicate a range of effects like you would get with traditional film stock
* Darkroom : Edit your photos with the lights on, at the comfort of your desktop
* Hi-Spot : Hi-Spot : Digital Film FX : A single Photoshop-compatible plug-in filter for high-contrast B&W effects.
PixelSampler includes a stand-alone application as well as a plug-in that works with Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro & Corel.
Features:
Black and White —our technology automatically uses a green and yellow filtering system, which cuts down the transmission of blue light, making skies appear darker and clouds stand out more. Orange and red filters are used to lighten tones and darken those of other colors, which produce dramatically darkened skies.
Contrasting Levels —captures details lost in the shadows. It also reduces the brightness range of an excessively contrast image, by subduing bright areas of sky, water, snow, and sand, which bring the light back to a normal range.
Duotone —create precise tones composing of two color choices. Use brushes to paint away parts you don’t want on your image.
Starlight —add flare to your art. This feature will render brilliant points of light from your image highlights.
Starpoint —artistically add flare to a photo. This effect is controled by the artists touch. Easily drop a starpoint to your image to better showcase a bright sunny day, or a romantic twinkling scene at night.
Grain —will give your image the look of exposed and processed silver halides left behind on film emulsion. Use this effect to give a unique grain shapes that align better thanconventional ones.
Monotone —creates all the hues, tints and shades of a single color. As a result, the energy is more subtle and peaceful due to a lack of color contrast.
Tonal Streak —streaks your image using either a motion blur or rotational blur and will streak the image farther wherever the image is brighter. This gives the effect of a shaken camera.
Warm Cool —use this on color images to give either a cooling or a warming effect. Cooling filters are pale blue and will warm a pale straw color. Warming will prevent a cold feel to pictures taken on overcast days or in shady areas on sunny days.
*note: The front info page states that new versions of Pixel Sampler do not require serial numbers to get rid of the watermark, however they have not updated their download page to state this in a clear, easily understood fashion, so at this posting I am unsure of the serial number/watermark situation. If the base software is 100% free, then there should not be any watermarks used on work produced. It would appear that the watermarks are used in the commercial add-on packs:
This filter scatters the pixels both horizontally and vertically by the radius you select. You can fade the opacity of the effect, and you can experiment with a number of blend modes. The blend modes blend the scattered image with the original.
Marble Mask
Use this filter only on a layer. It is a transparency mask. It will adjust the transparency of a layer so that the layer beneath will show through in a pattern resembling marble. It is especially useful where the top layer is the original image and the layer beneath it had been radically altered. Use in in place of blending modes or fading opacity. The effect is quite different from either of these. The preview won't show you the blend. You will have to experiment to find the settings you prefer.
Free PhotoShop Plugins from Martin Vicanek
To get to the plugins, click the above link, then click Plugins on his index menu. It looks like he's working on more plugins, judging from his list of products, but these three are the only ones available for download at this time.
Color Cube
This plugin provides a 3D visualization of all colors in an image. Colors are represented as RGB-values, hence each color corresponds to a point in color space. Histograms, although useful, represent only projections of the full 3D color distribution, hence important subtleties may remain hidden. The Color Cube plugin helps in detecting color clipping etc.
Color Cube lets you select a rectangular region or the entire image to be analyzed. You can spin the color cube and view it from any angle you want. You can also select the background color. Remember that Color Cube is an analysis tool, it will not alter your image.
Pano Warp
This plugin lets you perform pixel transformations used in panorama stitching. I am well aware of some excellent panorama stitching tools out there which do it all automatically without you having to bother much. These work fine if you take your pictures with a tripod and make sure the horizon is in the middle, but if you don't, you can have a real hard time. There is also the problem with curved lines in architecture photography. Check out the examples below and you'll see what I mean.
My plugin will give you full control, but that also means you have to play around a bit. You can use it for preprocessing single frames and compose your panorama the pedestrian way (e.g. with Photoshop using layers). This is somewhat tedious but I occasionally encounter situations where this is the only way I can get a decent stitch. Since this preparation is an iterative process, I found it useful to provide an option to save and load up to five different parameter settings. A simple facility to compensate barrel distortion and vignetting also comes in handy.
You might also want to use Pano Warp for post processing, e.g. switch between projections or re-adjust the horizon height. The filter lets you reposition and resize the output image. Grid lines can be displayed both before and after transformation.
Perspective Transformations
Sometimes you cannot choose the optimum angle to take a picture. If the object is essentially planar (e.g. a painting on a wall) or the angle is not off by much then there is hope that you can correct the perspective afterwards.
The opposite may also be of interest if you want to make a composition and place objects at different angles, e.g. pep up screenshots for a brochure.
The Perspective plugin lets you carry out both active ("tilt") and passive ("untilt") transformations. You can rotate the image around three axis, then reposition and resize it. Grid lines can be displayed both before and after transformation.
Free Filters from Digital Artshop:
IRIDESCENT
The Digital Artshop's Iridescent filter will apply a pearl like effect to your image. The effect is fully controlable with sliders for the amount of reflections, colour strength, smoothing and a detail enhancer.
GREYSCALER
Our RGB to greyscale filter was created to add more flexability to converting images to black and white. The first three sliders control each individual channel. This can be useful in bringing out hidden detail in the picture or isolating individual channels. In additon there are the more usual controls for Contrast, Brightness and a Depth (pseudo gamma) control.
IMAGE ENCODER
Protect your pictures from prying eyes. Our Image Encoder has 16 million encode/decode options.
To encode simply adjust the three sliders and set the X,Y option , making a note of the encode number. To decode set the sliders to the same numbers with 'decode' option checked.
From Martin Vicanek - go to his site and click Plugins - the two listed below are new, we have covered his other plugins elsewhere in this thread.
Pinocchio
Pinocchio is mainly a fun tool to produce image distortions by mouse strokes. You can use it for caricatures and such. Just click on the preview image and drag in whichever direction, then use the sliders for fine tuning. This version lets you perform multiple mouse strokes without having to exit and reinvoke the plugin.
Vignette Corrector
Vignetting is the brighness fallof at the corners of an image. This is a rather universal phenomenon, however it is more pronounced for wide-angle lenses. If you are interested in the theoretical aspects of vignetting, here is a nice explanation. Vignetting can be very disturbing if you want to combine a set of images to a panorama (panorama stitching). You want to compensate that unwanted effect on the individual frames before stitching. On the other hand, vignetting is sometimes deliberately used as a nostalgic style element in portray photography.Vignette Corrector offers you a number of controls to adjust the size and brightness of the vignette. In addition you can modify the tint and saturation. I found this useful for scanned negatives, where I could not compensate vignetting with brightness modifications alone. I have also implemented a 3x3 mirror tiled view to enhance the vignette visibility. Use the tiled view for accurate vignette correction prior to panorama stitching.
You can even adjust thumbnails size and you can have the preview of the actual size of the brush… you can also try it out!people who publish brush sets on their personal websites need to provide users with previews. This software is able to generate images for every single brush and can also generate the general image from the panel of the thumbnails you have visualised.
Despite being coarser his algorithm produces much better looking results.I want to thank Mr. Atkinson who passed the algorithm on to John Balestrieri and Mr. Balestrieri for sharing the information.
From Martin Vicanek - go to his site and click Plugins - the two listed below are new, we have covered his other plugins elsewhere in this thread.
Pinocchio
Pinocchio is mainly a fun tool to produce image distortions by mouse strokes. You can use it for caricatures and such. Just click on the preview image and drag in whichever direction, then use the sliders for fine tuning. This version lets you perform multiple mouse strokes without having to exit and reinvoke the plugin.
Vignette Corrector
Vignetting is the brighness fallof at the corners of an image. This is a rather universal phenomenon, however it is more pronounced for wide-angle lenses. If you are interested in the theoretical aspects of vignetting, here is a nice explanation. Vignetting can be very disturbing if you want to combine a set of images to a panorama (panorama stitching). You want to compensate that unwanted effect on the individual frames before stitching. On the other hand, vignetting is sometimes deliberately used as a nostalgic style element in portray photography.Vignette Corrector offers you a number of controls to adjust the size and brightness of the vignette. In addition you can modify the tint and saturation. I found this useful for scanned negatives, where I could not compensate vignetting with brightness modifications alone. I have also implemented a 3x3 mirror tiled view to enhance the vignette visibility. Use the tiled view for accurate vignette correction prior to panorama stitching.
