Tonight

Tonight the world is in it’s simplest form.
Tonight, there is only you, me and the fairy lights.
Other than these, the world is empty, time is infinite, space - immeasurable.
The lights turn my vision shades of green, and pink and flawless blue, and I raise an empty hand to hold a single tear before the black expanse swallows it up.
I hang the tear upon a tree, amongst the sharp bristles that pierce my skin and the sparkling lights, and we cry a thousand more until the tree glitters in rays of moon-light from a moon that isn’t there.
Lie upon a bed of darkness and cover our forms with blankets of stars and rest your weary limbs in this tiny piece of security.
Silently, this scene is captured and placed within a song, a photograph, a tear, a book and a memory.
Carry these things with you always, in mind, heart or pocket, as a reminder that you are never alone.
As a reminder that beside you always lies a reliable piece of comfort.
