Stargate SG1: The Alliance footage materialises
Deep underground in some remote US Army bunker, the Stargate shimmers like a paddling pool suspended wrongwards. Each week the TV series throws its heroes through this interstellar revolving door. Invariably, they rock up on a planet crawling with angry aliens, and laserplay follows swiftly after. And the good news is that the videogame version seems true to the source material - with the series\' strong personality, diverse locations and plentiful action.
From the format of the show - SG1 is the code name for a four-strong squad of tooled-up explorers-slash-soldiers - we\'re guessing the game could be squad-based, with you playing O\'Neill, the leader of the team. On squeezing the trailer for info we noticed a semi-second of first-person viewage hidden among the CGI, leading us to believe that Stargate could possibly turn out like Rainbox Six in space.
Sounds good to us - after all, we\'re forever giving orders in WW2 or leading troops against modern-day terrorists. Fighting laser-wielding techno-Egyptians in distant galaxies should make for a rather refreshing change
