My Board

Hey, everybody! This is not my usual style (posting so soon after registering), but after looking around a bit, this doesn't look a whole lot like the 'usual' GFX board, either. /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

My name is Mike; I'm a Paramedic by day, PS'er and gamer by night. I live in North Carolina. I got in to Photoshop about 6 months ago (been drawing since I was a kid, but it's a [b]lot[/b] different /shocking.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(ack)\' /> ) and started making sigs for friends and such - decided that I really enjoyed working with graphics programs. I guess I'd call myself a 'novice-beginner' with these programs, but I hope that I can learn alot from hanging around here.

What sort of art do you draw? I\'d like to draw, but there seems to be a wiring problem between what I see in my mind and what actually shows up in PhotoShop /blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':blink:\' /> However, I keep trying, one day I\'m sure I\'ll figure it out. /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

Hey, again, everybody and thanks for the warm welcome; sorry that I haven't been around much in a bit (been real busy at work).

@ Dren: that was a good type of comment, as in "this is better than the usual graphics forum" /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

@ Tami/Adaera (sorry, wasn't sure which you prefer here): I have always been more of a fan of still life/nature (to be read: I can't draw human form for nothing /laughing1.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'(lol1)\' />). I only recently purchased my first tablet (Wacom) and it's going to take me quite some time getting used to using it/Photoshop like I used pencils and paper before, too.

I can\'t draw at all lol...I just play with colours and shapes and brush strokes until it looks like something close to what I think it should...sort of.

I have a wacom graphire 3, and it does take a bit to get used to not watching the pen in your hand, but the cursor on the screen. I\'m hoping that if I keep at it, sooner or later I\'ll improve on the drawing skills.

Yeah, I have the Graphire4, and that's the hardest part getting used to... Like, you, though - I'll keep at it! /victory.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':victory:\' />

I\'m so bad at drawing I have trouble with stick figures /blum.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

Thanks Shadow...but really is more fluke than talent lol.

I think my next tablet will be an Intuos, if my drawing improves enough to warrant the expense. I do more photography than I do artwork, and my photos don\'t need much if any editing, so it\'s kind of a practical side/geek side in battle over the gadgets lol
